With such a large range of reasonably priced health and beauty products made in Great Britain, there really is no excuse for not buying British when it comes to looking after your skin.

I’ve not been able to find UK made cotton wool balls, cotton wool pads or cotton buds in any of the major supermarkets for ages. Salvation is at hand though in the form of Robinson Healthcare.
Most Robinson Healthcare products are produced in their factory in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
Robinson Healthcare’s “Cottontails” and “Soft and Pure” ranges of cotton wool is made in the UK. The range includes:
- Cotton Pads
- Cotton Wool Balls
- Cotton Wool Pleat and Roll
- Cotton Buds.
No more buying cotton buds made in Greece or wherever from Tesco’s or Waitrose. Will now be buying English made cotton buds 🙂
Robinson foam earplugs are manufactured in China and packed in the UK. Robinson Silicone earplugs are manufactured and packed in the UK.
- It’s what they’ve always known
- Solid soap is more luxurious
- The feeling of scouring away the dirt in the shower
- Less packaging is better for the planet
- The bottles are fiddly.

These are some of my favourite made in the UK soap bars, in no particular order:
Simple is a leading brand for sensitive skin in the UK. Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes are the biggest selling facial skincare product in the UK with one pack being sold every 3 seconds according to the Simple website! They make and sell bath and shower products, soaps, facewash, cleansers, shampoo, men’s grooming products, cleansing wipes, a range for teenagers, a baby range, sun protecting products and so on. Simple’s parent company is Unilever UK Ltd. Many Simple products are made in the UK, but not all so please check country of origin before buying.
The Bulldog range of men’s grooming products are mostly made in the UK. Shaving gel, shaving cream, face wash, deodorant, Beard Shampoo and Conditioner, Beard Oil, etc. Whilst most Bulldog products are made in the UK, some are foreign made. For example their foaming shave gel cans are made Belgium, although all the other Bulldog products I have seen are UK made. They do not give country of origin on their website, so you’ll have to ask or look at the products themselves. They say on their website “We work with two main factories here in the UK in Frome, Somerset and in Preston, Lancashire. They make all of our skincare line. We also manufacture a small number of our products through specialist factories outside of the UK where they have unique skills” – https://www.bulldogskincare.com
Nelsons is the UK’s largest manufacturer of natural healthcare products, including RESCUE Remedy and Nelsons Tea Tree Cream. Their products are manufactured in Wimbledon, England.
Neal’s Yard make and sell organic natural health & beauty products. They use “high quality organic, natural and wild, plant-based ingredients with a view to safety, efficacy and biodegradability” and they also say on their website ” We use recyclable packaging, sourced wherever possible from the UK to reduce transport miles”. They have a “purpose-built eco-factory in Dorset”. The company was founded in 1981 in Neal’s Yard, near Covent Garden, London. The blue bottles are being made in the UK too now, in Yorkshire. Pretty much everything from Neal’s Yard is made in England. On their Facebook they say “Our Skincare is scientifically formulated and products made in our own Eco factory in Dorset.” On their YouTube channel they say “At Neals Yard Remedies we design, test and make our own products at our eco-headquarters and physic garden in Gillingham, Dorset” and they manufacture the majority of their products at their own factory in Dorset, UK.
