British made hairbrushes and combs.
Denman brushes are top quality and they still produce the majority of their products in the UK. Check the packaging and if it is UK made it should say so. Unfortunately country of origin information is not given on their website (but country of origin labelling can be seen in some of the pictures). Some Denman products are foreign made, for example their JDMB55 Jack Dean Military Brush is made in the Far East and their JDCB Jack Dean Club Brush is foreign made too. I understand the Denman branded range of brushes are all made at their factory in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Denham combs seem to be made in the UK too, but do check the packaging to be sure – http://www.denmanbrush.com
Tangle Teezers (as featured on Dragons’ Den on TV) are made in the UK. It says on their website that “Tangle Teezer is proud that our manufacturing is done exclusively in the UK” – http://www.tangleteezer.com
Duralon (John Dobson (Milnthorpe) Ltd.), founded in 1886 (or possibly 1704), is probably the UK’s best known comb brand. They say on their website that they are the “UK’s leading hair combs manufacturer” and they have a factory in Milnthorpe, Cumbria. No country of origin information is given on their website, but it would be worth asking if you are interested. Most of the products they sell are probably foreign made, but it seems they still make combs in England. The former brand names of Bela and Langdale are no longer used. The combs pictured below say made in England on them but I do not know how old this photograph from the internet is (I copied in the picture in January 2017). I wrote to ask the company for more information on where manufacturing takes place on 19/1/17 and they said “Could I point you towards our eBay shop, where you will find a selection of our UK made combs at good prices” so it seems yes they do still make their combs in the UK. It says on their eBay shop “We have been manufacturing quality hair combs for you since the year 1704 and we still make combs with pride, every day in our factory here in Cumbria in the UK” – http://stores.ebay.co.uk/duralon – https://www.duralon.co.uk
Royal Warrant holders G B Kent & Sons Ltd (Kent Brushes) have a factory in Apsley, Hertfordshire, England, but I read that only 50% of their products are actually made in the UK. Still that’s better than 0%! They make hairbrushes, toothbrushes, combs, shaving brushes, make-up brushes, etc. Choose Kent products carefully and look for the magic words “Made in England” before you buy!
