UK’s ‘last typewriter’ produced

via BBC News – UK’s ‘last typewriter’ produced.

Japanese company Brother makes the last typewriter in the UK at their factory in North Wales in November 2012.  Unsurprisingly typewriters will continue to be made by Brother in the Far East but they say demand for typewriters is so small that the factory in Wrexham, North Wales is no longer viable.

😦

Many other companies used to make typewriters in the UK too, but sadly these have all gone too. Another Japanese company, Sharp, for example used to make typewriters in the UK.
