British made hairbrushes and combs.

Denman brushes are top quality and they still produce the majority of their products in the UK. Check the packaging and if it is UK made it should say so.  Unfortunately country of origin information is not given on their website (but country of origin labelling can be seen in some of the pictures). Some Denman products are foreign made, for example their JDMB55 Jack Dean Military Brush is made in the Far East and their JDCB Jack Dean Club Brush is foreign made too. I understand the Denman branded range of brushes are all made at their factory in Bangor, Northern Ireland. Leyland Paints are all manufactured in Birstall, West Yorkshire, UK.  Leyland are owned by the American PPG Industries.

Crown Paints paints are all made in Darwen & Hull, England. Crown are now part of the Danish Hempel Group.

They also sell round elastic cord online and (in minimum quantities) made to order braid and cord, tape, ribbon, woven tape, elastic and webbing, piping, treasury tags (India tags), etc. – all made at their factory in Leicester.  Fabmania were previously named Hancock and Roberts Ltd.

G B Kent & Sons Ltd (Kent Brushes)

Royal Warrant holders G B Kent & Sons Ltd (Kent Brushes) have a factory in Apsley, Hertfordshire, England, but I read that only 50% of their products are actually made in the UK.  Still that’s better than 0%!  They make hairbrushes, toothbrushes, combs, shaving brushes, make-up brushes, etc.  Choose Kent products carefully and look for the magic words “Made in England” before you buy!

Curver – some of Curver’s products (including the Union Jack plastic box in the picture below) are made in the UK, but many of their products are made abroad. You’ll need to check whether the products from this company you are interested in are made in the UK or not, as no country of origin information is given on their website. Curver have a range of products made in the UK, in Redruth in Cornwall, but most are foreign made. It will be best to check the packaging itself as the company’s staff are not very knowledgeable about where their products are made. For example, they told me that they manufacture all the 5, 20 and 40 litre Deco bins in the UK, whereas currently the 50 litre Deco and the Duo Deco recycling bins are manufactured in Europe. I ordered a 5L Deco bin and when it arrived it was made in Luxembourg so I had to return it – http://www.curver.com
